Golden milk is a super healthy and nutritious beverage perfect to enjoy on a cold winter evening, but I enjoy it all year long. It’s comforting and delicious and it’s made with plant milk, turmeric, and a few other simple ingredients. It’s out of this world!

Turmeric has so many health benefits, as it’s loaded with lots of antioxidants. It can improve memory, lower our blood sugar levels, reduce inflammation, and boost the immune system, among other things. This milk is an easy and tasty way of incorporating this spice into your diet!

To make this beverage I added some ground ginger, black pepper (which enhances turmeric absorption by up to 2,000%!), and vanilla extract. I like my golden milk better with all these ingredients, although they are totally optional.

Enjoy this amazing drink before bed, for breakfast, or even as a snack. It’s so warm, soothing, and delicious, and it’s so good for your immune system. It’s very easy to make and only requires one pot!

  • Add all the ingredients to a saucepan (photo 1), stir until well combined (photo 2), and cook over medium heat until hot (about 3-5 minutes) Stir occasionally.
  • Serve immediately or reheat on the stovetop or microwave until warm enough.

Pro tips

  • If it’s your first time trying this recipe, I would add 1/4 or 1/2 tsp of ground turmeric, then try it and add more if needed.
  • Although sweetener is optional and you don’t have to incorporate it to your golden milk, it will taste better if you do.
  • Feel free to use any kind of sweetener.
  • Ground black pepper enhances turmeric’s properties and absorption, but you can omit it if you don’t like how it tastes.
  • Incorporate, change, or replace all the spices you want.
  • I’d recommend you make your own vanilla extract at home, as it’s healthier and more affordable.
  • I used ground cinnamon, although you could also use a cinnamon stick instead. Just remember to remove it before serving.

What kind of plant milk can I use to make this golden milk?

Although I used unsweetened soy milk, you can use any kind of plant milk, such as almond milk, oat milk, or even cashew milk. It’s better to use unsweetened plant milk to make this recipe, but if you use sweetened milk you can just omit maple syrup or add less of it instead.

How long will this golden milk keep?

Although this drink is best when served immediately, you can also keep the leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. Reheat it on the stovetop or microwave until it’s warm enough.

Can I make golden milk with coconut oil?

Although some recipes call for coconut oil, I don’t think you need to add it to your golden milk. That way, it will be healthier and lower in fat. However, if you’d like your drink to have a slight coconut flavor, you could make it with homemade coconut milk.
